Tingtegneriet: Crafting Objects with Soul and Structure

Across the world, design is undergoing a quiet but meaningful shift. Consumers are no longer satisfied with objects that simply “work”; they seek pieces that feel intentional, long-lasting, and emotionally grounding. In furniture and everyday objects especially, there is a renewed appreciation for craftsmanship, materials, and sensory experience. As mass production continues to dominate the industry, a parallel movement is steadily rising — one that values intimacy over scale and purpose over trend. It is in this evolving landscape that Tingtegneriet stands out as a Danish design studio committed to making objects that matter.

Designing Without Compromise

Founded on the belief that good design begins with freedom, Tingtegneriet operates with a rare level of autonomy. With its own production facility, the studio is unhindered by market analyses or the pressures of large-scale manufacturing. Instead, every piece is the result of focused attention, skilled hands, and a clear design philosophy. Tingtegneriet’s furniture and everyday objects — crafted primarily from wood — reflect a balance of functionality, material honesty, and aesthetic clarity. This uncompromising approach is made possible precisely because the team designs and produces each object themselves, allowing them to stay true to the shapes, proportions, and details they believe in.

The Makers Behind the Vision

At the heart of Tingtegneriet are Claus Boye Petersen and Vibeke Maj Magnussen, whose shared history stretches back to their days studying at the furniture line at the Danish Design School. Claus, a trained cabinetmaker and furniture architect, brings deep expertise in materials, construction, and production methods. His years as the sole creative developer at Nanna Ditzel’s Design Studio gave him an understanding of how to shape ideas into functional, timeless pieces. Vibeke — designer, photographer, and creative collaborator — complements this with her multidisciplinary background spanning furniture design, graphic design, spatial design, and photography. Together, they create objects rooted in sensory experience: pieces that feel good to touch, use, and live with. Their shared commitment to thoughtful product development forms the red thread that ties every project together — whether it’s their own collection or collaborations with manufacturing companies seeking professional design guidance.

Crafting a Future Grounded in Quality

Today, Tingtegneriet continues to expand its range of furniture and everyday objects, many available through their webshop and others made to order. The brand’s future lies in further refining its craft, exploring new materials and design collaborations, and continuing its mission of creating well-considered, beautifully executed objects. With their deep respect for form, function, and feeling, Tingtegneriet is shaping a design future that remains proudly rooted in quality.
